FAQ

  1. Is this a boat tournament or an angler tournament?
    This is an individual angler tournament in which you decide the division(s) that you will compete.
  2. How many fish can I enter?
    Each angler is allowed to enter one legal redfish to be counted in the tournament. This one fish’s total point count will stand in each division that the angler is entered.
  3. Can I fish in my boat and on land?
    Yes, you can fish anywhere you like as long as the fish is caught on a rod and reel. There is one exception, to be eligible for the Kayak bonus, you must fish from a kayak.
  4. How far can I travel to catch a fish?
    As far as you like, but the fish must be caught during fishing hours. Remember, weight does not matter!
  5. How will the spots be counted?
    The angler, a tournament director and an independent judge will measure the length and count the spots.
  6. How will the length be measured?
    Pinched-tail method. All fish will be rounded up at the .5” mark and rounded down if below.
  7. Will you count the spots on both sides of the fish?
    Yes. Both sides are not identical.
  8. What if spots touch?
    All spots that touch will be counted as a single spot.
  9. Can I enter in multiple divisions?
    Yes. You can enter in as many divisions that you are eligible for and wish to pay for.
  10. Can I win more than one prize?
    Yes. You are eligible for a prize in any division you are entered. Only one prize will be allowed per division except for the Two Angler Team because an angler can be on multiple teams. All bonuses are awarded in addition to the Division prizes. An angler can win more than one bonus prize.
  11. What is the Two Angler Team (TAT)?
    The TAT is a team entry that uses the combined total points of the two team members’ fish. An angler can be on as many TATs as he/she wishes to pay for. You do not have to be on the same boat or fish together. If you are on multiple teams, your one fish will be used for each team you are on.
  12. What if only one angler catches a fish in a TAT?
    If only one angler on the team catches a fish then that one fish will be entered as the team total.
  13. Can I enter other divisions after I have sent in my original registration?
    Yes, you can enter at Hot Spots in Gulf Breeze until 10:59 pm, Friday, April 29, 2011 or at the Angler’s Social at Flounder’s on Pensacola Beach beginning at 4:00 pm, April 29, 2011.
  14. Do I have to bring the fish to the dock in the boat that I was fishing on?
    No. You can come to the tournament site by land or water.
  15. How do you get the total fish count?
    The fish will get a point for each inch and a point for each spot. Add them together and that is the total count.
  16. What do you do in the case of a tie?
    All ties are broken by the earliest count time(s). The earliest time wins the tie. Times will be marked at the time of counting. For the Two Angler Teams, time will be determined by combining both times entered for a total time value.
  17. If I enter one division, then am I eligible for another?
    No. You are only eligible for the divisions in which you paid to enter.
  18. Are there any guaranteed prizes?
    Yes, all first places, junior prizes and bonuses will be guaranteed. The full payouts are based on 30 entries per division.
  19. Will you be using the Torry Meter to check the freshness of the fish?
    Yes, all fish will be checked using the Torry Meter. The Torry Meter is a fish freshness device. We will also be examining the color, odor, gills, palpability and eyes for freshness. Please remember to keep all fish properly iced but not frozen. All winners are subject to a polygraph prior to accepting their prize.
